About fiddlenook

Tiny tools, quick games, one puzzle a day. fiddlenook brings together 28 tools you can use right in your browser, with nothing to install and no account to create.

Why it exists

Search for a way to shrink a photo or merge a few PDFs, and most sites ask you to upload your files to their servers. Handing over personal photos and documents without knowing where they end up never felt right. Neither did being told to install an app or sign up just to use a simple calculator. So we started building tools that do one job well and finish all their work on your own device.

Your files and inputs stay on your device

Image compression, photo location removal, PDF merging and splitting all run inside your browser. Files you pick and numbers or text you type are never sent to a server or stored anywhere. Only small conveniences, such as game high scores and daily puzzle records, are kept in your browser storage, and clearing site data removes them.

How we build it

Every calculator is checked against a second, independent calculation before it goes live. Daily Trivia answers are confirmed with at least two sources, and those sources are listed under each explanation. Games and tests are just for fun, so we avoid made-up rankings or anything that looks like a diagnosis.

A new puzzle every day

Guess the Year, Put It in Order, Fill the Vowels and Daily Trivia refresh every midnight. Missed a day? Play it from the daily archive. You can share your result with friends without giving the answer away.

Who runs it

fiddlenook is planned, built and run by one person. If something is confusing or wrong, please let us know. We fix things one by one and keep adding new tools.

Tools you can use now

Bug reports, tool ideas and corrections are all welcome.
